• Tutorials for using Microsoft Excel are located in the Appendix of your lab manual on

Statistically analyze your data and generate an “Analysis Table” using Microsoft Excel.
• Begin by choosing the appropriate statistical test (t-test or ANOVA), and then follow the
steps we learned in lab (beginning on page #34 of the lab manual) to analyze the data
collected to generate an analysis table.
• Tutorials for using Microsoft Excel are located in the Appendix of your lab manual on
page #131.
• Remember, we are trying to determine the cellular respiratory rate (per gram of body
mass) of crickets (measured as ppm/g/min)).

Create a “Graph” using Microsoft Excel.
• Begin by choosing the appropriate style of graph.
• Be sure to follow the guidelines for creating a good graph beginning on page #43 of your
lab manual.
• Tutorials for using Microsoft Excel are located in the Appendix of your lab manual on
page #131.

Answer the following questions about your study:
1. State the p-value and alpha value for our experiment.
Hint: Be sure to cite the appropriate p-value (there may be more than one
generated in the analysis) and the alpha value we discussed in lab.
2. State the statistical null hypothesis for this study.
3. Based on your analysis, state your results and conclusions for your study on aerobic
respiration and ectotherms.
Hint: Be sure to describe your results as they relate to your p-value, alpha value,
and statistical null hypothesis. Finally, be sure to state what these results might
mean to someone reading about your study (Hint: How do these results apply to
ectothermic animals, cellular respiration, and environmental conditions such as
temperature?).
Once you have completed the assignment, attach your Excel Spreadsheet (containing the “Data
Table”, “Analysis Table”, and “Graph”). Additionally, attach the word document containing your
answers to the 3 “Questions” (listed above). Once you have attached these documents to the
