A study is designed to determine whether the recovery rate of a patient after surgery could be improved by providing the patients with a newly developed drug (Drug X). The 30 patients at a local hospital who agreed to participate in the study were divided into two groups based on gender (18 men and 12 women). Half of the men and half the women (selected by random) received Drug X immediately after the surgery, while the others did not. The doctor administering the drug was the only person who knew which patients received Drug X. The patients in the study and the nurses working with the patients on the hospital floor were not told who received Drug X. They recovery rate for each patient was determined by the number of hours after surgery it took before the patient was able to walk around the hospital floor. The average recovery rates for men and women who took Drug X and who did not were compared within their gender groups as well as with each other.Complete the following five activities, referring to the study description.1.
